ARCHIVE NEWS - 2017
End of Season round up
The 2017 season drew to a close tonight (Friday 29th September 2017) with the Mid-Cheshire team securing third spot in the league with a 218 - 178 home win to Tarporley. The 18 person team got off to a slow start but solid home performances and a strong end of season has resulted in an excellent finish behind the two runaway leaders, Meadowbank and Owleywood.

In the Norley Afternoon league, we finished 10th out of 12, hopefully maintaining our position in Section 4. We have had a strong stable team for much of the season, with good home performances

In the Norley Evening league, we finished 11th out of 12, which means we are likely to be relegated to Section 4 next season. The squad of 16 performed well at home, but with some notable absentees from the 2016 squad, we couldn't quite do enough to maintain our place at this level.

In the Runcorn league, whilst we finished bottom, the team actually won 9 out of the 20 matches. All the new players improved during the season and there was a great team spirit. We also took part in a number of league cup competitions, including the Section 3 team events, singles events and pairs. Mike Price won the Section 3 merit competition, with John Coats reaching the semi-final.

So that's the end of the outdoor bowling for 2017. Maintenance work on the green starts tomorrow and so the green will be closed from now until the Spring. A huge thank you to all our members, team players and greenkeepers. There are still tickets available for the various presentation evenings (held by the three leagues) and we will be holding our AGM during the close season. If you can't get through the winter without your bowling "fix", then indoor bowling at Crowton Village Hall will be starting next week.

Thank you for helping to make this a great little club and see you in the Spring.
